He will be the first PM of the country who will offer prayers at Baba Baidyanath Dham, one of the twelfth Jyotirlingas and Shaktipeeth. Before him, many politicians have also worshiped Shiva in the city. On Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi will also inaugurate some projects related to the temple along with worship at Baba Mandir. The Prime Minister has tweeted that these projects will boost spiritual tourism. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the new airport built in Deoghar.

Indira was worshiped when she was not in the post of PM

Kartik Thakur, general secretary of Panda Dharmarakshini Mahasabha, says that for the first time in Deoghar, a prime minister will worship in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Swami Vivekananda also worshiped Baba Baidyanath at Deoghar. Karthik Thakur tells that when Ramakrishna Paramhans came to Deoghar, then Shyama Charan Mishra of the Panda family also attended Durga Puja. Swami Vivekananda first came to Deoghar in 1887 and offered prayers to Baba Baidyanath. It is said that he was ill then and at the behest of the Guru brothers came to Deoghar to seek health benefits.
