Lakhs of devotees reach from every corner of the country to perform Jalabhishek to Baba Baidyanath in Deoghar, Jharkhand.

Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also worship Baba Baidyanath in Deoghar. He will be the first PM of the country who will offer prayers at Baba Baidyanath Dham, one of the twelfth Jyotirlingas and Shaktipeeth. Before him, many politicians have also worshiped Shiva in the city. On Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi will also inaugurate some projects related to the temple along with worship at Baba Mandir. The Prime Minister has tweeted that these projects will boost spiritual tourism. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the new airport built in Deoghar.

Indira was worshiped when she was not in the post of PM

Kartik Thakur, general secretary of Panda Dharmarakshini Mahasabha, says that for the first time in Deoghar, a prime minister will worship in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Earlier, Narendra Modi has come to Deoghar for election campaign. Karthik Thakur says that earlier Indira Gandhi had also worshiped in the sanctum sanctorum of Baba Baidyanath Dham temple. But then she was not in the post of Prime Minister. Indira worshiped with the correct pronunciation of Vedic mantras. It is said that she was following all the rules from the time she entered the temple. Following the Sanatan method, he entered the temple premises from the east door itself. After the completion of the worship, she left for Hindi Vidyapeeth. He also worshiped Baba Vasukinath. Swami Vivekananda first came to Deoghar in 1887 and offered prayers to Baba Baidyanath. It is said that he was ill then and at the behest of the Guru brothers came to Deoghar to seek health benefits. From here he also went to Simultala. In 1889, 1890, 1898 also Vivekananda had stayed in Deoghar.

The then Governor of Jharkhand and now NDA’s candidate for President Draupadi Murmu also worshiped. Earlier, Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Pranab Mukherjee have also come to Babadham. Tirth Purohit says that Pranab Mukherjee had worshiped Baba Baidyanath twice while being the President.

Mahatma Gandhi and Rajendra Prasad have also come to Deoghar

Mahatma Gandhi also visited Deoghar twice. When Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa, he decided to tour the whole country. During this he also came to Deoghar. He has written about the importance of the temple, the method of worship, pandas etc. For the second time, in 1925, he stayed in a house opposite the R. Mitra School. Then he was accompanied by Rajendra Prasad who later became the first President of the country. After becoming the President, Rajendra Prasad worshiped in Baba Mandir.
