Controversy is increasing over the inflammatory speech given during the Parliament of Religions in Haridwar and Delhi in Uttarakhand. 76 Supreme Court lawyers have written a letter to Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana appealing to take suo motu cognizance of the issue. The Dharma Sansad, which lasted for 3 days in Haridwar, ended on 20 December.

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra shared the letter on Twitter. He has asked the Supreme Court to take cognizance of the matter. TMC MP has said that Dharma Sansad was organized by Yeti Narasimhanand Giri of Juna Akhara. It was said to threaten Muslims. So action should be taken against them.

The letter states that the speeches openly call for the killing of an entire community. The names of Congress leaders Salman Khurshid, Dushyant Dave, Prashant Bhushan, Vrinda Grover are also included in the lawyers who wrote the letter.

BJP leaders were also involved
The Dharma Sansad was organized by religious leader Yeti Narasimhananda. He has also been accused of inciting violence with hate speeches in the past. TMC leader Saket Gokhale had lodged a complaint at Jwalapur police station in Haridwar. According to him, Prabodhanand Giri of Hindu Raksha Sena, Udita Tyagi of BJP women’s wing and BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay were present in the program.

Former Delhi BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay had said that it was a three-day event. I was there for a day. During this I was on the stage for about 30 minutes and talked about the Constitution. I am not responsible for what others said before and after me.

Narasimhanand said – we too have the right to speak our mind
Yeti Narasimhanand defended the speeches and said that we organized Dharma Sansad and the views of the speakers are personal. They are free to speak their mind. It doesn’t matter how much I agree or disagree with them. Freedom of expression is for all. He told that the theme of the Parliament of Religions was Islamic Jihad and our Responsibilities. About 150 people including 50 Mahamandaleshwars participated in it.
