Parthiv Patel starred with the bat in a low-scoring encounter to help Gujarat Giants beat Manipal Tigers by 2 wickets in the third match of the Legends League Cricket Season 2 in Lucknow on Monday.

On the basis of the disciplined performance of their bowlers, Gujarat first bowled out Manipal Tigers for 120 runs and then Gujarati boys Parthiv Patel (34) and Kevin O’Brien (23), and Thisara Perera (23), who played an unbeaten inning of 106 runs in the first match. Sehwag’s team chased down the target with 8 wickets remaining in 17.2 overs.

Although Virender Sehwag failed with the bat, his team chased down a 121-run target with 16 balls remaining thanks to Parthiv Patel’s 17-ball 34-run knock. Earlier, Manipal Tigers scored 120 for 8 when Sehwag chose to bowl first after winning the toss. The two bowlers who stood out for Gujarat Giants were Tillakaratne Dilshan (2 for 18 in 2 overs) and Ashok Dinda (2 for 22 in 4 overs).

With the victory, Gujarat maintained first place in the standings with four points after two games, while Manipal dropped their second straight game to remain in third place in the four-team standings with no points.

Season 2 of Legends League cricket is a four-team franchise model. Apart from Kolkata and Lucknow, the matches will also be played in New Delhi, Cuttack and Jodhpur. Only female match officials have been ensured in the League of Legends. For the first time in the history of cricket, all the officials of a tournament are women and they are all listed in the ICC.
