Question: Why does a solar eclipse happen?
answer: There are different reasons for this from the point of view of religion and science. According to science, the Earth revolves around the Sun along with the Moon and the Moon revolves around the Earth. When the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun while orbiting and these three planets are in a straight line, then the Moon’s shadow falls on the Earth. Wherever the shadow of the moon falls, the sun is not visible. This condition is called solar eclipse. From the perspective of religion, the story of eclipse is related to Rahu and Ketu.

When the gods and the demons churned the ocean together, nectar came out. Vishnu incarnated as Mohini and was giving nectar to the gods.

Rahu, an asura disguised as the gods, sat among the gods and drank the nectar. Surya and Chandra recognized Rahu and told this to Vishnu.

Vishnu beheaded Rahu with the Sudarshan Chakra, but Rahu had drunk the nectar, so he did not die. Rahu has two parts. One part is called Rahu and the other part is called Ketu.

The complaint of Rahu was made by Sun and Moon, due to which he considers both of them as enemies and from time to time suffers these two planets, which is called eclipse.
