Lapse in security of IPL players in Chandigarh: 3 criminals arrested from the hotel where Kohli and team stayed; Said- had to be photographed with the players

The match was played between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Mohali’s ground.

There was a breach in the security of IPL star players in Chandigarh. Three history-sheeters had also booked rooms in the hotel where Virat Kohli and other players were staying. Those who have been arrested by the police. Among the arrested accused is the accomplice of gangster Deepak Tinnu, the killer of Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala.

When these accused were interrogated, they told that they wanted to click photographs with the players. SHO Rohtash Yadav of IT Park police station said that the betting angle is also being investigated. At present, they have been released after questioning.

The matter is of 20 April. The match was played between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at IS Bindra Cricket Stadium on Thursday. In which Virat’s captaincy RCB won. After this match, the RCB team stayed at Hotel Lalit located in IT Park. In which many other famous players including Indian cricket star Virat Kohli were included.

Police arrested three accused
The Chandigarh Police had received a tip-off about booking of rooms by 3 criminals in this hotel. On the basis of secret information, IT Park Police Station SHO, Inspector Rohtash Yadav immediately raided the hotel along with the police team at around 10.30 pm and arrested them.

The arrested accused have been identified as Rohit (33), a resident of Royal Estate Society, Zirakpur, Mohit Bhardwaj (33), a resident of Sector-26 Bapudham Colony, and Naveen Kumar, a resident of Bahadurgarh district, Jhajjar, Haryana. The police have arrested the accused under preventive action.

Players stayed on the fifth floor
According to police sources, the cricket team was staying on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. On the fifth floor, there were rooms for Virat Kohli and other players of the team. The staff that came with the cricket team was stuck on the fourth floor. While these accused stayed on the third floor. The police arrested them from there.

Now know about these criminals
It was revealed in the investigation that Mohit Bhardwaj of Sector-26 Bapudham Colony was earlier arrested by the Chandigarh Crime Cell in October, 2022. He is an accomplice of gangster Deepak Tinu, the killer of Moosewala. The District Crime Cell also recovered a pistol from him. On this, a case of Arms Act was registered against him in IT Park Police Station. At the same time, a complaint was registered against him in the Sector-17 police station for assaulting a government employee. On the other hand, the second case is of a fight outside the Grapho Club in Sector 7.

At the behest of Deepak alias Tinu, he had made the suspended CIA Mansa SI Preetpal Singh enjoy shopping in Chandigarh.

Rimmi accused of firing at BJP leader’s birthday party
Among the arrested accused, Mohit and Rohit alias Rimmi are residents of Bapudham Colony, Sector 26. Whereas Naveen is a resident of Bahadurgarh in Haryana. A case of dacoity was registered against Naveen of Bahadurgarh in 2019 at a showroom in Panchkula Sector-20. One person was killed and one person was injured in the robbery. Two cases are being reported registered on him in Ambala as well.

Along with this, Rohit alias Rimmi was also included in the accused whose names came up in the incident of firing at Fbar Club in 2018. The firing took place at BJP leader Sahdev Salaria’s birthday party and an FIR was registered in the matter on November 20, 2018.
