The Kejriwal government, which claims to have good education system and good schools and colleges in Delhi, is not even able to pay salaries to its professors. The matter is of Deendayal Upadhyay College of Delhi Government, where the salary of professors has been cut. According to the college, this decision has been taken due to lack of funds. Please tell that this college is funded by the Delhi government.
Now Delhi University has sought a reply from the college in this matter. A show cause notice has been issued on behalf of the university’s chairman to the principal of the college, Professor Hem Chand Jain. The principal has been asked to reply by September 10. It has also been said in the notice that the teaching staff whose salary was withheld from the month of July, should be reinstated soon.
A few days ago, there was a lot of controversy after the salary of Associate Professor and Assistant Professor was cut in DDU College. The college had issued a notice on September 06 informing about the reduction in salary citing lack of funds.
Answer sought from the principal on these issues
- When the required amount was released under the salary head of DHE, it is learned that the salary of Associate Professor/Professor for the month of July has been reduced by Rs.50,000/- and that of Assistant Professor by Rs.30,000/-. Tell whose permission did you deduct the salary.

- It is also learned that TA has been recovered from the employees of the University as a result of your unilateral decision without bringing the matter of recovery to the Governing Body.

5 days working day done
There has been a tussle between the Delhi government and Delhi University for several days over the grant of funds and employees. This is the reason that only 5 days of working has been done in the college. This will save electricity and cut down on other expenses. According to media reports, such decisions have been taken after the government ordered not to release funds and to provide electricity and grants to the college itself. DDU is one of the 12 colleges under the Government of Delhi, which are affiliated to the University of Delhi. However, no comment has been made by the government on this.
Salary problem going on for 2 months
The salary of teaching staff has been given in DDU for the last two months. The payment has not been made by the Delhi government. This issue has been hot since last year. According to media reports, apart from DDU, 12 government colleges are also struggling with lack of funds. Last year on October 29, 2021, this issue was also raised vigorously in the executive council meeting of the university.
