Kuno National Park: The country’s ‘hope’, the name given by PM Modi to a four-year-old female cheetah, know how her first day was spent

Eight cheetahs brought from Namibia were released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Kuno National Park on Saturday. Cheetahs are now trying to identify the place. They are testing new territory, although today the cheetahs appear a little easier than yesterday. At the same time, PM Modi has named a four-year-old female cheetah as ‘Asha’.

Let us inform that no name was given after the four-year-old Asha was brought to the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF). Namibia and the CCF had reserved an opportunity for PM Modi to christen a female cheetah as a birthday present. Five female and three male cheetahs have been brought from Namibia.

Newcomers to the Kuno National Park have breakfast of buffalo meat on the first day. Cheetahs were hungry for two days before coming to India, after three days cheetahs have breakfast for the first time in India. The park management says that the first day of cheetahs on Indian soil passed peacefully. The eldest female of the team, Sasha, is seen testing the place. First she takes light steps and then runs fast. Cheetahs ate buffalo meat and slept well. The team believes that it may take some time for them to get used to the atmosphere. At present, the cheetahs have been kept in different enclosures for about a month. After this, seeing their behavior, they will be released in the sanctuary of Kuno.

Dr. Laurie Marker, founder and executive director of the Cheetah Conservation Fund, believes that Sasha is scanning the surrounding areas. Settling in India may take a long time. Where once an animal species is extinct, it is very difficult to reset it.

Know the names of female cheetahs

The team that came with the cheetahs told that the two-year-old female cheetah is Siyaya in the cheetahs. It is in south-eastern Namibia. Was in CCF since September 2020. A two and a half year old female cheetah is Bilsi. Who was born in April 2020 at Erindi Private Game Reserve in the south-eastern city of Omuru, Namibia. Sasha is the oldest and largest cheetah in the team of cheetahs. Another female cheetah is the savannah. The savannah is a female cheetah native to northwestern Namibia.

Cheetah was last seen in 1948

Cheetah was last seen in India in 1948. In the same year, the Korean king Ramanuj Singhdev had hunted three cheetahs. After this cheetahs were not seen in India. After this, in 1952, the cheetah species in India was considered to be extinct in India. Villagers of 25 villages and 5 leopards had to leave their ‘home’ to settle the cheetah in the Kuno National Park. Out of these 25, the villagers of 24 villages have been resettled.
