KOLKATA: Metro Railway has made plans to beef up security arrangements at Park Street, Maidan and Esplanade stations on Christmas and New Year’s Eve, as footfalls are expected to be high in the festive season.
“Metro RPF is organizing extra deployment in these three stations to manage the huge rush expected on the two days,” a Metro spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Women RPF teams will be present to ensure security of women and children, he said. A special armed team consisting of an SI, an ASI and four staffers, including two women, will be deployed at the three stations from 11am till the end of the services at 10.30pm on the two days.
Metro will add 10 services on Saturdays from Christmas, and four on weekdays from Monday, to meet the increasing rush.
