Kolkata Doctor Case: CBI Submits Investigation Status Report To Supreme Court | ABP News

The case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata remains heated. On August 21, 2024, the central government directed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to take over security at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Official sources informed PTI that the CISF will also secure the institution’s hostels, with an armed team soon to be deployed. This directive follows a Supreme Court order. A team led by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) inspected the hospital, where the body of the 31-year-old trainee doctor was found on August 9, after being allegedly raped and murdered. In solidarity with the ongoing junior doctors’ protest, demonstrators took to the streets, disrupting public health services in West Bengal. The CBI continues its interrogation of the hospital’s top officials, though no new arrests have been made.
