New Delhi: Salman Khan’s ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’, a remake of the Tamil film ‘Veeram’, hits the theatres today. The film, directed by Farhad Samji, is expected to open between Rs 14 crore and Rs 18 crore. For Salman Khan standards, the opening seems to be on quite a lower side.
Trade analyst Sumit Kadel told IANS: “The film will collect up to Rs 18 crore on its opening day but from Monday, the film will see a downward spiral in its collection.”
The film has booked 4,500 screens across India for the release, Sumit shared with IANS.
Gautam Dutta, Co-CEO of PVR INOX Ltd, shared with PTI the expectations from the movie are “huge”.
“I must say that it is coming a couple of weeks after ‘Pathaan’. The reality is that this is the next Khan film on the block with a huge amount of expectation and that coming on Eid, I think it kind of multiplies that excitement,” he told PTI.
‘Pathaan’, starring Salman’s close friend and contemporary Shah Rukh Khan, turned out to be a blockbuster after it released in January.
Dutta said the trailer of ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ was positively received by many people across the country.
“The trade is expecting close to about Rs 15 to 18 crore opening on day one, although technically it sets in on Saturday. So we are hoping Saturday will be long because then Sunday will be colossal. But Friday may be slightly subdued and the real die hard fans of Salman will probably come out that day. But it still seems more like a Rs 15 to 18 crore opening day on Friday,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.
The film, which is Salman’s first big screen release in a leading role in four years, features an ensemble cast including Telugu actor Venkatesh, Pooja Hegde, Jagapathi Babu, Bhumika Chawla, Vijender Singh, Raghav Juyal, Siddharth Nigam, Jassie Gill, Shehnaaz Gill , Palak Tiwari and Vinali Bhatnagar.
However, despite an ensemble cast and Salman in the headline, the film would suffer because of its practically non-existent script. While the film may wrap up below Rs 100 crore, it will have far-reaching repercussions on Salman’s other films in the pipeline, mainly his next big-ticket release, YRF’s ‘Tiger 3’.
While the Hindi film industry just recovered courtesy films like ‘Pathan‘, ‘Bholaa‘ and ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Mecca‘, it will be interesting to see how the success or failure of ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ reflects on Bollywood.

ABP Live’s review of the film reads, “Despite having an impressive cast, the writers scarcely give the characters any soul, leading to a mishmash of characters and flimsy subplots.
The North-meets-South romance barely works due to a handful of amusing moments that naturally fall into place. But for the most part, the narrative’s dragged humor makes for some intolerably awful bits. Although the plot matches up to that in several Bollywood flicks in this genre, the well-choreographed action sequences were the film’s redeeming grace.
When it comes to the performances, Salman Khan does well in the violent, bloody fight scenes but fumbles in the more nuanced ones. On the other side, Pooja Hedge, who serves a little more than merely a prop, does fairly well in her screen time.
