Kevin Pietersen continues hilarious banter involving MS Dhoni with throwback video

By India Today Sports Desk: Kevin Pietersen seems to be enjoying his light-hearted banter involving MS Dhoni with the Indian cricket fans as he posted a throwback video of him getting the wicket of the former Indian captain in a Test match during 2007.

Pietersen had posted a video clarifying that he wasn’t Dhoni’s first Test wicket. It all began when Dhoni joked about Pietersen being his first Test wicket during an IPL match in 2017. Pietersen, who was a commentator in the IPL in 2017, had a funny interaction over the microphone with Manoj Tiwary, who was playing for Rising Pune Super Giant, as he was standing at the slip cordon next to Dhoni.

Kevin Pietersen had told Tiwary to pass on a message to Dhoni, saying he was a better golfer than the former World Cup-winning India captain. “He is still my first Test wicket,” Dhoni responded, cracking up the commentators.

Pietersen seems to be enjoying his banter with the Indian cricket team fans on social media and decided to post a throwback post showing him dismissing the former Indian skipper.

This happened during the third Test in India’s tour of England and Dhoni appeared to be in fine touch that day. The wicketkeeper batter had scored 92 runs off just 81 deliveries and was looking set for a hundred. In an attempt to take on Pietersen, Dhoni charged down the track and hit a lofted shot that was caught by Alaistair Cook.

There has been a lot of speculation about Dhoni’s future in the IPL but Pietersen recently suggested that the CSK skipper can continue to play for another 10 years.

During the CSK vs KKR match on Sunday, the former England captain said that with the Impact Player rule, Dhoni can still continue to play.

“With the Impact Player rule, 10 years is left in him. He can keep (wickets). He is fit enough to keep. Doesn’t bat a lot, but hits a couple of sixes. Marshals his troops so beautifully,” Kevin Piteresen said on-air during Chennai’s innings.
