Kerala’s 873 police personnel linked to PFI: Revealed in NIA report; All accused of leaking information related to the raid

At least 873 police personnel in Kerala are associated with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI). The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a report to the Kerala Police Chief, in which this has been revealed. Now the state’s sub-inspector (SI) and station head officer (SHO) rank officers and civil police personnel are under the scanner of central agencies. Details of bank accounts and money transactions of these officers are being collected.

According to the information, the list of NIA includes personnel belonging to Special Branch, Intelligence, Law and Order Wing and employees working in the offices of Kerala Police officers. It is alleged that these people have leaked many information including the raids conducted by the police.

Many police personnel were suspended in February
Last February, a civil police officer attached to the Karimannoor police station in Thodupuzha was dismissed from service for leaking information of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders to the PFI. In a similar case, three policemen, including an SI, were transferred to Munnar police station.

Investigating agencies had conducted raids in two rounds, 278 arrests were made in 2 days.
On September 22 and 27, NIA, ED and state police conducted raids on PFI and its affiliated organizations. Within 2 days there were 278 arrests. Investigating agencies got enough evidence against PFI. After this this action was taken. However, during this time demonstrations were also held at many places. The highest performance was in the state of Kerala.

5 years ban on PFI
On 28 September, the government banned the Popular Front of India, ie PFI, for 5 years. Apart from PFI, action has been taken against 8 more organizations. Evidence of terror links has been found against all of them. The Central Government has taken this action under UAPA (Unlawful Activity Prevention Act). The government said that the activities of PFI and its affiliated organizations are a big threat to the security of the country.

Formed 16 years ago, spread in 23 states
Popular Front India (PFI) was formed in 2006 by Manitha Niti Pasarai (MNP) and an organization named National Development Fund (NDF). Initially this organization was active only in the states of South India, but now it has spread to 23 states including UP-Bihar.
