The case of assault on Kerala students studying in Indira Gandhi National Tribal University in Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh has caught fire. Condemning the incident, former Congress National President and MP Rahul Gandhi has demanded a fair probe. The CM of Kerala has also demanded action against the culprits in this case. The university management has formed a committee to investigate the matter.

Earlier, 5 MPs from Kerala have written a letter to the Union Minister. He also demanded strict action and inquiry. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has also raised questions on the safety of the students by tweeting. Here, after the matter escalated, a case has been registered against three security personnel Rameshwar Majhi, Virendra Singh and Chabilal Mehra.

On March 10, a scuffle broke out between guards and some students of the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak in Anuppur district. Four students and a guard were injured in this. The injured students were first referred to the district hospital, then to the Medical College of Shahdol.

The names of the injured students are Naseel, Abhishek, Adnan, Adil. All of them are students of this university and are residents of Kerala. It is being told that these four students had climbed the water tank here. From this tank, water is supplied to the hostels of the university.

The guard named Rameshwar told that after taking the students out of the tank, he asked them their names and asked them to show their ID cards. But the students refused to divulge anything and tried to run away. When the guard strictly inquired about the possibility of mixing some poisonous chemical in the drinking water tank, the students started beating the guard. On this, the guard Rameshwar also called his other companions.

When the guards interrogated the students, they did not reveal their identity and only said that they had gone to click photographs. The guard said that there is a ban on climbing this tank and taking photographs. All four started arguing over this. On this matter, the guards together beat up all the four. In this melee, all four students and guard Rameshwar were also injured. Rameshwar suffered injuries on his head and leg. Students have also suffered injuries on their legs, ears and back.

After the fight, the security personnel have lodged a complaint against the students at the Amarkantak police station.

We were getting off The security personnel took pictures of us as we got off the tank. We were not aware that there is a ban on going to the tank.

The security personnel asked us for information. When they started going towards the hostel, the security personnel called and called other people. After some time a security vehicle came near them, the people who got down from it started shouting and beating.

On Saturday, Kerala MP ET Mohammad Basheer has written a letter to the Vice-Chancellor of the University demanding action against the security personnel in this matter.

Committee formed to investigate the matter
University Public Relations Officer Dr. Vijay Dixit said that a committee has been formed to investigate the whole matter. Taking this matter seriously, the Collector has also directed to take appropriate action. SP Jitendra Singh Pawar said that an FIR has been registered against the security personnel in the case of assault.
