VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that Kashi Vishwanath Dham (corridor) had not been developed for electoral benefit. While emphasising the need for a stable government, he also mentioned that UP would emerge as the driving force in country’s economy.
Ahead of his public meeting at Khajuri in Varanasi on Saturday, Modi was interacting in Mahmoorganj with around 200 intellectuals, including academics and other dignitaries. Classical vocalist Padma Vibhushan Pt Chhannulal Mishra welcomed Modi in his style by reciting a song and also blessed him to mark the beginning of the event.
“Rank ko aaj daan dene do, Aaj hua hai Modiji ka aagman, Aaj agha raha hai man, kyu bhatakta pade tujhe jivan, Mukti ko, aaj shabd ko arth gyan dene do,” recited Pt Mishra.
While blessing Modi for a long life, Pt Misgra, who was his proposer in 2014 Lok Sabha election, said, “I bless PM to be healthy forever and keep the country progressing. You have not only brought about transformation, but I saw development even in villages while returning from Azamgarh.”
Pt Mishra said, “I told the villagers that not only for you, but Modiji is doing work for everyone’s progress and he should be blessed for continuing it.”
Sharing his vision for KV Dham, Modi said, “Rejuvenation of KV Dham should have been done in past as Kashi deserved it. This work has not been done by keeping election in view. It has become possible with the cooperation of people of Kashi and no treasure was specially arranged for it.”
Modi also discussed about the need of stable government for the development of the country and state. “Country paid the cost of unstable government for 30 years as no important decisions could be taken even in departments like railway. Apart from stability, continuity is also a must for an accountable government,” said Modi.
Explaining the reason for introduction of Vande Bharat Express trains, he said that speed is needed for change and progress even for poor. “By travelling in this train it can be found that poor traders are also travelling in it as they are finding sufficient space to take their goods and products.”
“The Ukraine crisis made it clear that how large number of children goes there for medical education,” he said, adding, “We took note of it and ensuring establishment of medical colleges in each district with sufficient seats. In next 12 years we will make doctors in such a strength, which will be equal to the number of doctors, we produced since independence till now.”
Regarding UP’s potential, Modi said that the state has capability to lead the country’s economy. The capabilities people of state should not be under estimated.
He said that he believed in taking feedback from people regarding the development work. “Thus, I visited Kashi lounge of railway station to see arrangements there. I was informed that a little kiosk of handicraft and wooden toys was generating income of over Rs 10,000 per day.”
Mentioning that he had come to show respect to the intelligentsia of Kashi, which gave the term of ‘guru’ (teacher) to the world. He said ‘guru’ word is used for scholars at Boston University and a street is also named as Kashi there, which he had visited during his US trip.
He said that world realises the importance of Kashi and also recalled the success of sanitation drive following its launching in country by him from here.
The host of the event, Rama Ramana businessman, said Modiji had a detailed interaction with the participants, including Prof Hariharkripalu Tripathi, Prof PK Jain, Prof Hareram Tripathi, Dr KK Tripathi, Prof Gopalbandhu Mishra, Prof Ramnarain Dwivedi, Dr RK Ojha, Prof Sadashiv Dwivedi, Prof Alok Rai , Prof Yogendra Singh and Prof Chandramauli Upadhyaya.
