The Karnataka government on Saturday issued fresh guidelines for citizens coming from high-risk countries. In the guidelines issued, the government said that home quarantine of seven days will be mandatory for those coming from high risk countries.

The government decided to step up surveillance and containment efforts on COVID patients and their contacts. The government insisted on home quarantine for seven days upon arrival from countries arriving from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand. In the guideline issued for international travelers, the Karnataka government said that infected people will be treated as per protocol.

In addition, each passenger must have a negative COVID report before allowing the RT-PCR certificate to leave the airport. The health department said that the airport authorities should provide necessary assistance in this regard. The department said that the District Health Officers of Bengaluru Urban District, Bengaluru Rural and Kolar are to depute 5 Health Information Officers from their district to Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru from January 1 on rotation basis till further orders.

The guideline states, if symptoms are found in any international passenger coming from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand countries, they will be isolated immediately. The Health Department said, if passengers develop symptoms like fever, cough, cold, body ache, headache, loss of taste, smell, diarrhea and difficulty in breathing, they should immediately isolate themselves and get tested. Notify the local surveillance health team. On receipt of the positive report, the health department will provide necessary medical facilities. Along with this, the department will keep them under surveillance for seven days.
