Karan Johar’s recent romantic drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was a huge hit at the box office.

Karan Johar, who is currently basking under the success of his recently released film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, has often been targeted for nepotism. Several digs have been taken on him for even favouring Alia Bhatt. But the director has never it taken very seriously. Well, in a recent conversation with Mid Day, he opened up on the same and said he would not apologize for anything. He even went ahead and called Alia his first child.

Karan Johar was quoted saying, “I haven’t and I will not apologize for anything. I will cast who I feel is right. If that person happens to be related to somebody in the industry then so be it. Alia is like my first child. I will always love her in public in person and she will always be part of my life and you can keep saying things, you can call me what you want.” He even added, “All the names you want eventually that negativity is eating that person up, not me. I’m rising above, I’ve taken the high road and when you take the high road in life, you cannot change the way of your being because of what people say.”

Karan returned direction after seven years. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The romantic drama performed very well at the box office and was loved by fans.

In the same interview, he even spoke about casting industry kid. Karan said that if he launches an actor coming from a film family who is equipped to be in a film, which may be a privilege for the start but after that, she/has to prove their mettle. He stated, “May be I’ve seen something, May be I’ve the access to that something why should I not leverage it.”

In the film, Rocky Randhawa (played by Ranveer Singh) and Rani Chatterjee (played by Alia Bhatt) fall in love despite their different backgrounds. To win their families’ approval, they swap homes for three months to test their bond. The movie was released on July 28.
