Kanpur Police Commissioner Asim Arun Joins BJP, To Contest UP Elections From This Seat

New Delhi: Kanpur Police Commissioner and IPS officer Asim Arun have applied for voluntary retirement from service, to join the BJP on Saturday. He will contest elections from Tehsil Sadar Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh.

Before announcing his decision to join BJP, Asim Arun has met Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath in the afternoon.

Expressing his gratitude towards Adityanath, Asim Arun said, “I will try to serve the party while using my past experience of police along with my capabilities to take progressive steps to develop the system.”

“I will try to always work for the benefit of the weakest and poorest person given by Mahatma Gandhi,” he further said.

Who Is Asim Arun?

Asim Arun, who was made the first police commissioner of the city, is originally a resident of the Kannauj district of Kanpur division. Asim Arun is a 1994 batch IPS officer.

He was born on 3 October 1970 in Badaun.

His father Shri Ram Arun was also the IPS officer of the state. He also held the post of DGP of the state. Asim’s mother Shashi Arun was a well-known writer.
