Kangana Ranaut Gives Statement In Court In Defamation Case Filed Against Her By Javed Akhtar

Kangana Ranaut appeared before the metropolitan magistrate’s court in Andheri on Monday in connection to the defamation case filed against her by Javed Akhtar.

Kangana recorded her statement wherein she pleaded not guilty. The actress had requested that only her sister and her lawyer should be present while she records her statement in the matter.

According to a report in India Today, the ‘Dhakad’ actress told the court that Javed Akhtar threatened her after she refused to apologise to Hrithik Roshan. She also stated that the lyricist insulted her modesty.

Kangana told the court, according to the India Today report, Javed Akhtar had said, “We will not take time to put up impostors, then it will be open to the public to know that your affair was not with Hrithik but with impostors, then your face will be blackened, there will be so much infamy in the public that you will have no other way except suicide. We have evidence, they have all the ministries, apologize and save yourself. A girl from a good family will be drowned in shame. If you have little shame to save your honor, then don’t insist,”

Kangana also alleged that Javed Akhtar provoked her to commit suicide, causing mental disturbance.

The actress is facing charges under Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code related to defamation. Akhtar had filed a complaint against Kangana in 2020 for taking his name during an interview while referring to a ‘coterie’ in Bollywood, following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in June 2020.
