New Delhi: ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is only a day away from release. Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani has been for many years in the making. Earlier titled ‘Project K’, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has undergone several transitions including seeing first-of-a-kind film technology.

How Nag Ashwin approached Vyjayanthi film producers for Kalki 2898 AD?
- Recalling the first time Nag Ashwin approached Priyanka Dutt, the produer recalled in ‘The Kalki Chronicles’ that he told her about Kalki, a story he had in mind, which he wanted to do on another scale but that if he did not do it now, he would not be able to do it again.
“There is another story that I want to do at another stage. But, if I don’t do this now, then I won’t be able to do it again.” Priyanks quoted Nag.
- Nag Ashwin wanted to approach Prabhas ages back with his film. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ was always on Ashwin’s mind for Prabhas. Nag Ashwin wanted Prabhas to be a part of the film, so much so that he wanted this to be his first film.
- A lot of the city sets in ‘Kali 2898 AD’ were created for real. Despite the CGI and a lot of film tech used in it, the surroundings were constructed by the makers of the film.
- Bujji is made in India. The futuristis AI car was made with the help of Anand Mahindra and a team of Indian engineers. Bujji has a key role in the film, as Bhairava’s right-hand help. The AI powered car has been voiced by Keerthy Suresh.
- A lot of newcomers have worked on ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. Makers shared n ‘The Kalki Chronicles’ that Nag Ashwin insists on working with newcomers for what they bring to a film for the first time. For a film of that stature, Nag Ashwin brought in a team of newcomers to bring about the grand sci-fi film that ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has become.
