Jungle scam in Punjab: Former minister’s nephew arrested from Chandigarh; Sword of arrest on Sangat Giljian

The Vigilance Bureau has arrested Daljit Singh, the nephew of former minister Sangat Singh Giljian, in connection with the Punjab Jungle scam. Daljit was arrested from Sector 37 of Chandigarh. However, Vigilance has not yet formally confirmed this. At the same time, the sword of Vigilance’s arrest is hanging on Giljian. Giljian has been the Minister of Forests in the cabinet of CM Charanjit Channi in the previous Congress government. He had sought anticipatory bail from the High Court but the petition was rejected.

Case registered in Mohali, Daljit used to watch work
A case is registered against former minister Sangat Singh Giljian in Mohali. Giljian was named along with former Congress minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in jail. Daljit Singh has also been made an accused in the same case. According to Vigilance sources, all the work of Sangat Singh Giljian was looked after by Daljit Singh Giljian. Vigilance suspects that Diljit was responsible for the Gilzian commissioned work.

Giljian was a minister for three and a half months
In the previous Congress government in Punjab, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot was the Forest Minister in Captain Amarinder Singh’s cabinet. After this, when the captain was removed, Dharamsot was also discharged. In his place, Sangat Giljian was made the Minister of Forests. He was the Forest Minister of Punjab for about three and a half months.
