The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has notified the dates for JNUSU (Jawaharlal Nehru Students’ Union) Elections 2024. The JNUSU ELections 2024 will be held on March 22 and the results will be declared on March 24, 2024, news agency PRI reported. Natably, following its last students’ union elections held back in 2019, the ace varsity will go into polls after a gap of four years.
Earlier last week, the JNU administration also notified the Election Committee tasked with overlooking the entire election process at the campus. “Students can file their nominations from March 14 and the final list of candidates will be displayed on March 16,” an official notice was quoted as saying in thai regard.
Voting will be held on March 22. The counting of votes will take place on March 24, following which the results will be declared,” the notice was further reported as saying. In run-up to the upcoming JNUSU Elections 2024, a university general body meeting (UGBM) will also be held on March 20 followed by the presidential debate wherein candidates fielded by different student organisations will address other students.

Concerning the JNUSU polls, the JNU administration on Sunday, also notified a code of conduct underlining guidelines for poll campaigning inside the campus. As per the code of conduct reported by PTI, the university administration has prohibited students from using any poster or pamphlet without prior permission from the JNU Election Committee during election campaigning inside the campus.
Students and organisations have only been permitted to use handmade and photocopied material for election campaigning inside the campus. Moreover, any kind of public meeting for social public meeting for social, culture or political purposes must be held with prior approval from the EC in advance, the rules reportedly state. Besides, defacing of any wall, building, trees, etc with posters has also been prohibited.
