Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024 LIVE Updates: The second phase of Jammu and Kashmir voting began in 26 constituencies of six districts. It is a part of three-phased Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. A voter turnout of 61.38% was recorded in the first phase.

Around 25.78 lakh voters will decide the fate of 239 candidates in the second phase in the Kashmir valley’s three districts of Ganderbal, Srinagar and Budgam and the Jammu region’s Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch districts. Out of 25.78 lakh voters, 13.12 lakh are male voters and 12.65 lakh female voters and 53 third-gender voters.

Prominent candidates include former Chief Minister and NC leader Omar Abdullah, from both Budgam and Ganderbal seats; Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina from Nowshera assembly seat and Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hamid Karra from Central-Shalteng seat.

Security has been beefed up at all the polling stations and arrangements for elders, women and voters with disability have been put in place.

Elections in Jammu and Kashmir are being held in three phases. Voting for 24 seats in the first phase was held on September 18 while 26 seats will go to polls on Wednesday in the second phase. The voting for 40 seats in third phase will be held on October 1 while counting of votes will be held on October 8.
