After 12 hours, the police have registered an FIR against the managers in the accident of breaking the swing at Dussehra Ground located in Phase 8 of Mohali. No one has been named in this yet. SHO Rajesh of Police Station Phase 8 Mohali said that a case has been registered against the managers of the fair under sections 287, 323, 336, 341, 337 and 34 of the IPC. These people had not got the equipment checked. After which his negligence came to the fore.
The SHO said that the fair manager had fled as soon as the swing fell in the night. We have made 3 teams. The police are continuously raiding their places and offices. On the complaint of Jyoti Sharma, who was injured in the accident, all the people of the management will be nominated by name.
The swing fell down during the fair at the Dussehra Ground in Mohali.
Sections of maximum 1 year imprisonment imposed for playing with life
- Section 336 Hasty or negligent act likely to endanger human life. This section can be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine which may extend to Rs.250, or with both.
- Section 337: Whoever, by his rash or negligent act, endangers human life and causes injury, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to 500 rupees, or with both.
- Section 287 Negligent or rash act with respect to machinery endangering life of any person. It shall be punishable with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.
- Under section 341, wrongfully restraining any person shall be punishable with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one month, or with fine which may extend to Rs 500, or with both.
- Section 323 deals with intentionally causing hurt to any person. shall be punishable with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.
- Section 34 deals with a criminal act in which several persons have committed an offense with the same intention. In this, punishment is given according to the crime concerned.
The swing fell from above 50 feet on Sunday night
Let us inform that around 9.15 pm on Sunday night, the swing broke down and fell down, in this accident about 20 people including children were injured. All these people had come to visit the fair on weekends. Some of the injured were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Mohali Phase 6. The victims had suffered serious injuries to the head and neck, back, abdomen etc. The video of this incident also surfaced.
Eyewitnesses say that seeing the swing suddenly fall down, they were blown away. Suddenly there was a scream and the people sitting on the swing suddenly fell down. All were badly injured. In a hurry, people put the injured in vehicles and took the injured to the Civil Hospital and private hospitals located in Phase 6.

Administration came into action after the accident
Senior officers of Mohali police reached and investigated. Apart from them, SDM Sarbjit Kaur and Naib Tehsildar Arjun Grewal also reached. On the other hand, the Mohali district administration has ordered an inquiry into the incident. At the administrative level, the officers will now examine the approvals and security measures for organizing this fair, swings etc. The police questioned the organizer of the fair, Sunny Singh. Mohali Deputy Commissioner Amit Talwar has also spoken of strict action regarding the accident.
Let us tell you that the fair in Dussehra Ground was given the name of London Bridge. The fair was to last till September 11.
