A local court on Tuesday sentenced a man accused of killing his wife in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. Police said that the court of Chaibasa Principal District and Sessions Judge Vishwanath Shukla convicted Sukhlal Pinguwa, accused of killing his wife, and sentenced him to life imprisonment under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (disappearance of evidence) of the IPC. Also imposed a fine of Rs.
Police said Pinguwa and Padmavati Mahto studied together and were friends. Both had a love marriage and lived in the Gua police station area. He said Pinguwa was a resident of Ruia village under Hatgumharia police station area and used to beat Padmavati frequently after marriage.
According to the police, Padmavati was seriously injured after being beaten up one day in 2019 and died two days later. On the complaint of Padmavati’s father, the Gua police registered a case and arrested the accused.
