A court in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district on Saturday sentenced three men to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl four years ago. Along with this, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 80,000 on each. In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo further imprisonment of three years.

Additional District Judge-5 and Special POCSO Court Judge Sanjay Kumar Upadhyay on Tuesday convicted Shiv Kumar Mahato, Inderpal Saini and Shrikant in the case, after which the punishment for the culprits was announced on Saturday.

The police had registered a case of gang rape in January 2018 on the statement of the victim, who was working as a maid in a residential society in Jamshedpur’s Mango area. Investigation is going on against 22 other accused including a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the case.
