Jharkhand Panchayat Polls: Counting of last two phases started, polling was held for 2,346 panchayats

The counting of votes for the third and fourth phases of Jharkhand Panchayat elections began on Tuesday morning. Election officials said that the counting of votes for the last two phases is being conducted amid tight security. Polling was held here on May 24 for the third phase and on May 27 for the fourth phase. Officials said that counting of votes has been started from 8 am on Tuesday.

According to the State Election Commission, 70.90 per cent of the total 46.94 lakh voters exercised their franchise in the third phase of polling, while 69.94 per cent of the 58.16 lakh voters cast their votes in the final phase. State Election Commission secretary Radhe Shyam Prasad said that in the last two phases, counting of votes is being done for 2,346 panchayats of 142 blocks.

Results may be declared by June 2
The State Election Commission informed that the voting was done through ballot papers. So it will take time to declare the final result. However, it is expected that the counting of votes can be completed by June 2.
