Jharkhand: Muslims expressed happiness over the passage of the Mob Lynching Bill, sloganeering in support of the government; distributed sweets

The Jharkhand Mob Lynching Prevention Bill 2021 was passed in the Jharkhand Assembly on Tuesday. As soon as this bill was passed, the people of Muslim society thanked the government and even distributed sweets expressing happiness. People also raised slogans in support of Hemant Soren government and celebrated this bill by coming out of homes and mosques. Jharkhand Muslim Central Committee vice-chairman Afroz Alam said that this bill will be beneficial not only for the Muslims but for all the people of the society. Those who carry out mob lynching by taking the law in their hands, they will now be punished.

Bill passed amid uproar
During the winter session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, approval was given to the Prevention of Mob Violence and Mob Lynching Bill 2021 amid the walk out of BJP MLAs. On behalf of the legislators of the opposition, a proposal to hand over this bill to the Select Committee and amendment was also given, which was rejected. With the passing of this bill, now the strictest action will be taken against those who commit mob lynching in the state. According to statistics, 56 people have been victims of mob lynching in the state since 2014.

There should be provision for hanging
On the passing of the bill, the Treasurer of the Muslim Central Committee, Dr. Tarefi said that the bill provides for life imprisonment to the culprits, but the perpetrators of such an incident should be hanged. He said that in all the incidents that have happened so far, only the people of Muslim society have been victims of mob lynching. They have neither been given proper compensation nor any other arrangement has been made.
