Jharkhand: Maoists shot dead a villager, suspected of being a police informer

A villager was shot dead by Maoists on the suspicion of being a police informer in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district on Tuesday. Police said that the villager was plowing the field when he went to shoot. He had recently returned to his village.

Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said that the Maoists shot dead Buddhanath Hasa Purti. The SP said that the victim was plowing his field near his house in Halmad village when armed Maoists reached there.

Purti tried to escape, but was caught and shot by the Maoists near her house. Purti is survived by his wife and two-year-old child. Due to Naxalite activities, Purti was living in Chakradharpur town for a long time, but had recently returned to his village.
