Jharkhand High Court lawyer Rajiv Kumar was arrested by Kolkata Police late on Sunday evening. Rajeev Kumar, who is in the news due to public interest litigations, has been arrested by the Hair Street Police Station from a mall in Kolkata. Rajiv Kumar had gone to Kolkata to plead in a case of the National Green Tribunal, when he was arrested.
It is reported that Kolkata Police has recovered Rs 50 lakh in cash from Rajeev Kumar. He had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Jharkhand High Court against a Kolkata-based businessman. It is alleged that they were demanding Rs 10 crore to take back this PIL. At the time of Kumar’s arrest, his absurdity was also with him.
Father files habeas corpus petition
After the arrest of Rajiv Kumar, his father has filed a habeas corpus petition in the Jharkhand High Court. In this, a demand has been made to present Kumar before the court. Kumar’s father says that his son has been falsely implicated and arrested.

Kumar had also filed a PIL against the CM.
Rajeev Kumar is a Senior Advocate of Jharkhand High Court. He is representing Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s alleged shell companies and PIL filed in the mining lease case. The petitioner’s lawyer is also the same in the PIL of Khunti’s MNREGA scam. Not only this, the lawyer of Pankaj Kumar, who filed the petition in the violence case in the capital Ranchi on June 10, is also the same.

The Ranchi Police has shied away from Kumar’s arrest in Kolkata. Ranchi City SP Anshuman Kumar said that we have nothing to do with this. The police has also issued a press release regarding this, in which it has been clarified that there is no case registered against Kumar in Ranchi.
