Jharkhand Police has arrested four accused in the abduction case of Ayurveda doctor. These accused have been arrested from Purulia in West Bengal. A senior police officer gave this information on Sunday.
Ayurveda doctor rescued from a house in Mukundpur
Tumpu Besra, a resident of Dumaria block of East Singhbhum district, has also been rescued from a house in Mukundpur under Joypur police station area of Purulia, he said.
Ransom of nine lakh rupees was demanded from the relatives
According to the police, these accused brought the Ayurveda doctor to Purulia on Friday on the pretext of treating a villager. Later, the family members of the doctor got a call from the accused and demanded nine lakh as ransom from them.
Police launched raid on secret information
Acting on a tip-off, a house was raided in Purulia and Besra was rescued, said Prabhat Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, East Singhbhum. Senior Superintendent of Police said that chief accused Chittaranjan Mahato has been arrested along with three others.
Many criminal cases are registered against the chief accused
The gang had also kidnapped two people from Baripada in Odisha in August and extorted Rs 7.50 lakh from their families, police said. He said that several criminal cases, including theft, were registered against the mahats in Purulia and Jamshedpur.
