People of the Jain community are expressing their displeasure against the Jharkhand government. Meanwhile, the Union Environment Ministry has written a letter to the Hemant Soren government. In the letter, the government has been asked to consider the objection of the Jain community.

The Environment Ministry has said that they are receiving several representations from the Jain community. It is being said that by amending the notification of eco-sensitive zone around Parasnath Sanctuary, eco-tourism activities should be kept out of it. In a letter written by Director General of Forests CP Goyal to Jharkhand Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, it has been said in the representation of the Jain community that the Parasnath sanctuary is the sanctum of Jain spirituality. In such a situation, the decision of activities related to ecotourism activities has hurt their sentiments.

Sammed Shikharji, located on the Parasnath hills in Giridih district of Jharkhand, is the biggest pilgrimage of the Jain community. The community members are opposing the state government’s move to promote religious tourism in Parasnath Hills. The people of Jain community say that after making Samsed Shikharji a tourist area, meat and liquor will also be consumed there. Whereas, such works are prohibited in Jain society.
