On Sunday, CM Soren said that he has sought a copy of the request of Governor Ramesh Bais from the Election Commission regarding the second opinion in the matter of office of profit.

Earlier on October 27, Bais had said that he had sought a second opinion in the matter. He had claimed that an atomic bomb could explode at any time in Jharkhand. He had said this while referring to his pending decision in the matter.

CM Soren said that I have sought a copy of the request for ‘second opinion’ of Governor Ramesh Bais from the Election Commission through my lawyer in the matter of office of profit. Also said that the counsel has stated on my behalf that the Election Commission will provide an opportunity of fair and effective hearing before giving any opinion on the basis of the second request made by the Governor.

The Election Commission on August 25 sent its decision to the Jharkhand Governor after the BJP filed a petition seeking disqualification of Soren from the assembly in the office of profit case, triggering a political crisis in the state.

Although the decision of the Election Commission is yet to be made official, there is buzz that the Election Commission has recommended the disqualification of the Chief Minister as an MLA in connection with the mining lease.
