Jd(s) Losing Grip On Cauvery Delta: Cong | Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: KPCC working president R Dhruvanarayana on Wednesday said JD(S) is losing its support base in the Cauvery delta in Karnataka, which was its stronghold. That is the reason it is opposing the Mekedatu padayatra, he said.
Speaking to reporters, he said former CM HD Kumaraswamy is worried as the Mekedatu padayatra has turned the focus on the crisis the state is facing.
“While Kumaraswamy is silent about the BJP government not fighting for the state’s cause, he has targeted Congress for taking out the padayatra. He is worried that JD(S) will further lose its relevance in the region in the wake of the padayatra,” he said, adding Kumaraswamy is targeting opposition leader Siddaramaiah to divert the attention away from the padayatra.
According to him, JD(S) had a secret pact with BJP during the 2018 assembly polls. It is keen to continue the partnership now. But Congress will fight the combined forces, he said.
He targeted BJP national general secretary CT Ravi for calling the padayatra a political gimmick. He asked Ravi to get the Mekedatu project okayed by the Centre.
