Political turmoil has increased in the state after the Karnataka Assembly exit polls showed a hung assembly. JDS is expected to become the kingmaker once again in Karnataka. The JDS claimed that it has received indications of an alliance from both the Congress and the BJP. Both the parties are contacting him. JDS became kingmaker thrice in the state. Formed government twice with Congress and once with BJP.

Senior JDS leader Tanveer Ahmed told that we have taken a decision on the alliance. It will be announced when the right time comes. However, the BJP rejected the talk of contacting JDS. BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje said that there is no question of alliance. We did not contact JDS. It is certain that we will get 120 seats.

Hung assembly in 5 out of 10 exit polls
5 out of 10 exit polls are predicting a hung assembly i.e. the government cannot be formed without the help of JDS. According to Poll of Polls, BJP 91, Congress 108, JDS 22 and others are expected to get 3 seats. Results will come on May 13 and everything will be clear.

Tanveer said- JDS will work for the people
Tanveer said that we will go with that party, which will work for the welfare of the people of Karnataka. No one can form the government without us. We could not match the resources of the national parties in terms of money. We were a weak party, but we know that we have always done well to be part of the government.

Now know… about JDS
HD Deve Gowda is the founder of this party. Right now the command is in the hands of HD Kumaraswamy. HD Deve Gowda remained in Congress (O), Janata Party and Janata Party (JP). In 1994, Deve Gowda managed to bring the Janata Dal to power in Karnataka for the first time.

In the 1996 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress was reduced to just 140 seats. Janata Dal got 46 seats. Thirteen parties like Janata Dal, Samajwadi Party and DMK together formed the United Front and Deve Gowda was made the Prime Minister. After 1997, the same Janata Dal was divided into many small parties and in 1999, Deve Gowda established the Janata Dal (Secular). Southern Karnataka is the bastion of the party.

Hung assembly 3 times in the last 5 elections in the state
For the last 38 years in Karnataka, the government has been changing every 5 years. The last time the Janata Party led by Ramakrishna Hegde won an election while in power was in 1985. At the same time, out of the last five elections (1999, 2004, 2008, 2013 and 2018), a single party got majority only twice (1999, 2013). BJP became the single largest party in 2004, 2008, 2018. He formed the government with external support.

JDS 3 times kingmaker, once formed government with BJP

  • JDS contested its first election in 1999, in which the party could get only 10 seats, but in 2004 this figure increased to 58. BJP won 79 seats and Congress won 65 seats in this election. Congress and JDS together formed the government here. In this way JDS became king maker for the first time.
  • HD Kumaraswamy broke away from the Congress after two years in this five-year plan and joined the BJP. Kumaraswamy became the Chief Minister for the first time. After this, JDS and Congress formed the government in 2018, but BJP made a dent. In this election, BJP won 104 seats, Congress 80 and JDS 37 seats. Once again, HD Kumaraswamy from JDS managed to become the Chief Minister for the second time.
