Jawed Habib writes: Dos and don’ts for your hair in winters

Winter is the favorite season for most of us. Cold weather, layers of clothes, and cozy sun, so nice and comfortable. But it’s not the same for our hair. The cold season makes our hair really dry, rough, and unmanageable. Our regular wash and style regime is not enough, we definitely need a special hair care routine for wintertime to keep it healthy & beautiful.

Here are some easy tips that you must try for your hair this winter and enjoy the most amazing hair:

*Preconditioning with Mustard oil does wonders for sure –- apply Mustard oil on your hair for 5 minutes before washing every day. This suits all hair types and conditions.

*Aloe Spa makes hair soft and dandruff-free. Take fresh Aloe vera gel and olive oil in equal parts, make a smooth paste and apply on hair evenly. Let it rest on your hair for 10 minutes and then wash with any normal hair shampoo.

*Yogurt mask is very healthy for scalp problems, take fresh yogurt and baby oil (any brand of your choice) in equal parts, mix well to make a smooth paste. Massage this paste on hair and scalp gently for 5 minutes. Wash with any normal hair shampoo.

*Aloe-lemon Mask is the best solution for Dandruff, take 2 spoons of fresh Aloe vera gel & ½ spoon of fresh lemon juice. Mix them well and apply them on the scalp for 5 min before washing.

*Five oils special for excessively dry hair — Olive, Coconut, Almond, Castor & Vitamin E oil. Take in equal parts, mix them well and apply them on hair for 10 minutes before washing.

What not to do in winters for your hair

*Hot water: Avoid hot water to wash your hair as much as possible. Use lukewarm water if required. This will prevent hair from dryness.

*Limit hot styling: Hot stylers make hair dry and damage-prone, especially when hair is delicate in winters. Try to use them less often.

*Outdoors with wet hair: Wet hair becomes excessively dry and starts breaking up with cold air, better dry it up well before going out.

*Conditioner on the scalp: Never apply conditioner on the scalp, it will lead to hair fall and dandruff problems. Use conditioner on the hair length and tips only.
