Preparing for competitive exams requires strong concentration skills, perseverance and commitment. Anyone preparing for the BPSC exams is expected to be surrounded by volumes of books most of the time, delving deep into study material. But not everyone has the same kind of preparation methods. It can be hard to believe that something as trivial as playing Sudoku can be part of preparation for BPSC but Neetu Kumari from Jamui in Bihar included that as part of her preparation for the examinations.

Neetu Kumari, a resident of Sikandra in Jamui district, has been selected for the post of ADM by securing a rank of 219. Neetu Kumari said that she had done her primary studies in Sikandra Vidyalaya and had passed her intermediate examination from Sikandra Lauhanda College. She did B.Tech from Patna and had attempted BPSC earlier as well. She retook the exam after failing, though, and this time, with a 219 rank, she made her district proud.

Her father, Rajesh Prasad Verma, has a small jewellery shop, and she is the eldest among her four brothers and sisters. Neetu stated that she finished her B.Tech in 2018 and began her preparations, spending the first few days away from home. However, later on, because of the lockdown, she had to go back to her home and begin preparing there. She lacked study material at that time and hence started preparing YouTube videos during the lockdown.

She says that if you use the internet correctly, you can learn a lot of things; you just need to use it wisely. In addition, she mentioned that studying at home has the benefit of allowing you to re-energize yourself by spending time with your family when you start to feel fatigued. She also started playing Sudoku in her leisure time to keep her mind calm. She said she believes that BPSC is all about a sharp mind and playing Sudoku helps one concentrate and is a strong exercise for the brain cells, sharpening one’s mind.
