The offline release of ITR forms 1 and 4 means that taxpayers can now download the forms in a PDF format from the Income Tax Department’s website and fill them out manually. This is beneficial for taxpayers who may not have access to the internet or may face technical difficulties in using the online filing portal.

Gupta added that the delay in the release of the JSON utility may cause inconvenience for taxpayers who rely on it for filing their ITRs.

“However, the Excel utilities and offline release of ITR forms 1 and 4 provide an alternative for taxpayers who wish to file their returns manually,” he said.

Additionally other than ITR 1 and ITR, the income tax department has not released the form for other income tax return forms.
