It is not possible to introduce the ‘West Bengal model’ across the country, the center informed about the ration

People of Bengal get rice and wheat through free ration. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has set a precedent by doing this. Only West Bengal in the country has this system in place. He started this system when the coronavirus took its toll on the whole world. Because of the lockdown situation in the entire country due to the coronavirus. It directly affects people’s livelihood. This is how Mamata Banerjee fed the people of Bengal.

However, even after overcoming the epidemic, he did not deprive the people of Bengal from this service. Mamata Banerjee’s government has been providing this service under the Dhiyasathi scheme. In the rest of the states, only citizens under National Food Security get rationed food. In this situation, there has been a demand to introduce the ‘West Bengal model’ in the whole country in terms of providing food to everyone. Several ration dealer organizations appealed to the Center in this regard. But in that context, the central government has informed in writing that they do not want to introduce the system like West Bengal in the whole country.

Why not wanting to turn on? The central government is not willing to implement the West Bengal model across the country because they are shielding the National Food Security Act. In this regard According to the central government, the law states that 50 percent of people in urban areas and 75 percent in rural areas will be covered by food security. Therefore, 80 crore people of the country now benefit from the National Food Security Scheme. But the population of the country has now touched about 140 crores. Despite the increase in population, the quota of states fixed for this scheme in 2013 remains unchanged. It is reported that a letter has been sent to the central government requesting to increase the quota on behalf of the state government.

What else is being known? According to sources, the central government has given an indication about this ration. It is known that the quota of food security project will be reduced in the coming days. Due to this policy of the Centre, many poor people will be deprived of free food in ration. All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation has written several letters to the Food Ministry, said Biswambhar Bose, general secretary of the organization. Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy has even written to the Prime Minister. Accordingly, a letter was sent to the Federation stating the views of the Central Government. It is clearly mentioned there that the ‘West Bengal model’ cannot be implemented across the country.
