International Women’s Day Celebrated Across City | Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: Several social, political and educational organisations on Tuesday organised functions across the city to felicitate women from different fields to mark International Women’s Day.
On the occasion, Ranchi University released a helpline number (1800-345-7064) for girl students of the institute. Vice-chancellor Dr Kamini Kaushal said girl students feeling uncomfortable with the behaviour of any person can lodge her complaint on the number.
Addressing the function, Ranchi mayor Asha Lakra spoke on the need to respect women and increase their morale.
The district legal service authority (DLSA) Ranchi also organised an awareness camp on women’s rights in Mandar.
Congress also launched its ‘Ladki hun Lad sakti hun (I am a girl, I can fight) slogan used in the Uttar Pradesh election in Jharkhand on the occasion. The party also honoured 200 women with saris and a memento for excelling in different fields including medicine and education.
In a function held at their state office, RJD leaders said that their chief Then Prasad has worked for bringing women from backward sections to the mainstream. They decided to enrol women in large numbers during the party’s membership drive.
Meanwhile, the Janwadi Mahila Samiti took out a procession of Rahe and Thundgrudih, located on the Ranchi outskirts to celebrate the occasion.
