instagram: Explained: What is Instagram’s new moderation tool and how you can use it – Times of India

Instagram has announced a moderator tool for the platform that can help creators during their live streams. The new feature was announced by the Facebook-owned platform in a Twitter post. The moderation feature was already available on popular video streaming platforms that allow users live broadcast. Although Instagram introduced the live broadcast feature back in 2016, it is surprising that it took more than 5 years for the platform to add the moderator tool. But what is a moderator tool and why is it important? Here are the answers.
What is the new moderation tool on Instagram and how it can help you
The most simple answer to this question can be found in Instagram’s Twitter post where it announced the feature. “We’re launching Live Moderator on Instagram Livewhere creators can assign a mod and give them the power to: Report comments, remove viewers from Live and turn off comments for a viewer” the post on Twitter reads.
As explained in the post, the feature will allow you to pick an Instagram user as a moderator for your live broadcast. The main purpose of the feature is to remove comments or users that can be offending or harmful for the creator or the users viewing the live broadcast.
Till now, only Instagram creators hosting a live broadcast had the ability to remove viewers or turn off the comments.
