DGCA has imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on IndiGo for not allowing a disabled child to board the flight. Along with this, a show cause notice has also been issued to Indigo Airlines. On 7 May, IndiGo dropped a handicapped child from a Ranchi-Hyderabad flight. Its video also went viral on social media. The airlines later told that the child was afraid to board the flight, keeping in mind his condition and safety, the airlines took this decision.

On 7 May, the handicapped child along with his parents had come to Ranchi airport to catch a flight from Ranchi to Hyderabad. During this, he was stopped from boarding IndiGo’s Ranchi-Hyderabad flight. The parents of the child kept making lakhs of pleas to the employee of the airline, but he did not budge. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the co-passengers also assured the company’s personnel of cooperation in the flight, but the employee did not allow the child to board the flight. Company personnel claimed that the child was feeling uneasy and scared. After this the parents also did not board the flight.

On the tweet made in this matter, the Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote, ‘There is zero tolerance for such attitude. No human being should go through this. I am probing the matter myself, after which appropriate action will be taken. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also sought a report from IndiGo. Action has been taken in this matter after being shared on social media.

He had formed the Fact Finding Committee. After investigation of the matter, a show cause notice was issued to the airline. However, the airline claimed that he was accommodated in a hotel in Ranchi that day and sent to Hyderabad the next day.

In such a situation, other passengers present in that plane could feel uncomfortable. For this reason he was prevented from traveling at that time.
