New Delhi: A woman belonging from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor died by suicide in New York after her husband and in-laws tortured her for dowry and hot giving birth to a son, reported news agency ANI. Mandeep Kaur, was married in 2015 soon after which her in-laws moved to New York and her husband stated torturing her, the news agency quoted her sister Kuldeep Kaur as saying.
“My sister was married in February 2015. Soon, they went to New York and he started torturing her. He wanted a son and wanted Rs 50 lakh in dowry,” Kuldeep told the news agency.
A video clip of Mandeep has now gone viral which she recorded before her death in which she has narrated her ordeal, sparking angry reactions from social media users.

As per the ANI report, an FIR has been lodged at the Najibabad Police Station in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor against Mandeep’s husband and in-laws.
“I tolerated all of it, hoping that he will mend his ways one day,” Mandeep Kaur, 30, says in a video shared on Instagram.
“It’s been eight years; I cannot take daily beatings now,” the mother of two daughters — aged 4 and 2 — says repeatedly, weeping. Speaking in Punjabi, she accuses her husband and in-laws of “forcing” her to die by suicide. “Daddy, I am going to die, please forgive me.” She died on August 3, according to news reports.
