Rohit Sharma, on Sunday, September 14, wasn’t quite happy with the on-field umpires during India’s Super Four match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

After being asked to chase down 182, Pakistan lost the early wicket of Babar Azam, but Mohammad Rizwan’s 37-ball half-century and a cameo from Mohammad Nawaz kept Pakistan in the hunt for a victory.

However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar got rid of Mohammad Nawaz to separate the duo. Soon after, Hardik Pandya removed the well-set Rizwan to put Pakistan under more pressure.

Thereafter, controversy erupted in the third ball of the 18th over. Ravi Bishnoi, who got rid of Babar earlier, churned out a short-pitched delivery, seeing which Asif Ali’s eyes lit up.

Asif tried to pull the ball with all his might, but missed the ball altogether. But the Indian fielders thought that the ball brushed Asif’s bat or gloves on its way to the keeper.

Therefore, they opted for DRS. Replays showed that there was a minor spike at the point of the ball crossing the bat. However, the third umpire thought otherwise.

The third umpire didn’t have much evidence to overturn the on-field umpire’s decision. Hence, Asif Ali survived massive care. Rohit was then seen having an animated chat with the umpire.

Asif Ali finished with 16 runs off eight balls with the help of one four and one six.

Pakistan lost the Group A match to India by five wickets after Hardik Pandya’s heroics for the Men in Blue.

But the Men in Green made amends by beating India by five wickets in the Super Four.
