HIGHLIGHTS

  • Deepak Hooda registered a century against Ireland
  • India secured a clean sweep over Ireland by 2-0
  • Hooda became 4th Indian to score hundred in T20Is

After becoming the only fourth Indian player to register a century in T20I, Deepak Hooda said that he wanted to emulate his IPL performance in his matches for the country.

Hooda, who made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka in February 2022, joined the likes of Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul after smashing a hundred against Ireland in the second T20I on Tuesday. The Hardik Pandya-led India secured a clean sweep over Ireland in the two-match series.

“To be honest, I was coming from a good IPL and wanted to follow the same performance. Happy with my intent,” Hooda said at the post-match presentation.

The Player of the Series, Hooda added: “I like playing in that manner (aggressive) and these days I am batting up the order so getting some time.”

In his two outings against Ireland, Hooda scored 151 runs, including 104 off 57 balls in the second T20I.

Hooda played for Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 IPL earlier this year. He amassed 451 runs in 15 matches at a strike-rate of 136.67. After an impressive campaign with Lucknow, Hooda was added to the Indian squad.
