Not only the common people, but the police personnel have also come under the grip of violence in Manipur since May 3. If sources are to be believed, the police with more than 45 thousand personnel has been divided into two factions.

For their safety, the policemen of the Meitei community are going towards the Imphal valley and the policemen of the Kuki community are going towards the mountains. The police have also been accused of not handling the situation properly during the violence.

New Chief of Manipur Police takes charge
The biggest responsibility of Rajeev Singh, who was appointed Chief of Manipur Police last month, is to restore peace in the state and keep the police personnel together by instilling confidence in them. Rajeev Singh is a 1993 batch IPS officer of Tripura cadre. Before becoming Manipur Police Chief, he was on deputation to CRPF.

According to officials, when Rajeev Singh became the police chief, he noticed that around 1200 personnel were absent from duty. In such a situation, he first identified these policemen and allowed them to join duty at their desired place. Officials say that 1,150 policemen have returned to duty so far.

Passing out ceremony of constables done through video conferencing
Rajiv Singh’s second task was to induct 304 new constables into the force. These constables were waiting for their passing out parade. These youths came from both the Kuki and Meitei communities. In such a situation, Singh organized his passing out ceremony on video conferencing and after the ceremony, he was posted in the areas where he had taken refuge.

stopped the police from getting involved in the violence
Police officials said that cases were being reported in which police personnel were helping mobs to loot arms and ammunition kept at police stations and security camps. To deal with these cases, Rajiv Singh sent a message to all the security forces to keep a strict vigil and prevent such incidents from happening.

According to officials, its results were visible on the ground when a few days ago hundreds of miscreants tried to loot arms and ammunition from the camp of the 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion in Khangabok area of Thoubal district and the attempt was foiled by the security forces. thwarted.

The miscreants had set ablaze the house of a jawan posted at the IRB camp after their attempt to loot weapons failed, officials said. The surprising thing is that these police constables whose houses are being burnt by the mob, come from their own community.

Police arresting rule breakers
Now the Manipur Police is deploying nakas to conduct strict searches. People are also being put under house arrest for violating the rules. Apart from this, security is being provided to the farmers of both the communities doing farming in the foothills of the mountains.

Security forces have set up checkpoints at 125 places in Manipur to track the movement of miscreants and anti-social elements. In these, 352 people were taken into custody for violating the rules.

Police running search operation in valley and hilly areas
A joint team of police and security forces carried out the search operation in sensitive areas of hill and valley districts. In this operation, the army destroyed 24 bunkers of armed miscreants in Imphal East, Kangpokpi and Imphal West districts.

Now the Central Police Force and the Manipur Police are jointly conducting a search operation with the aim of restoring peace and normalizing the situation in Manipur. Due to this exercise, the police has been able to seize ammunition from many areas.
