IMF’s Gita Gopinath Shares Glimpse Of G20 Meet, Poses With FM Nirmala Sitharaman & Others

Deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Gita Gopinath on Thursday shared light moments from a G20 event in Bengaluru and interacted with prominent leaders including finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

In a tweet, Gopinath posted photos with Sitharaman and Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Nadia Calvino. She can be seen wearing a saree in the photograph.

The leaders have gathered for the first Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meetings in Bengaluru. India is currently holding the G20 Presidency.

“It was really nice to catch up with Finance Minister @nsitharaman @nsitharamanoffc at the G20 FMCBG meetings in Bengaluru. Lots of good discussions @g20org,”  said Gopinath in the caption.

Calvino, who is also the Spanish Minister of Economy, was also wearing a saree.

“First Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Economy in Spain @NadiaCalvino, who always contributes immensely towards helping solve global issues, fits in perfectly at @g20org in Bengaluru,” Gopinath captioned the photo with her.

The two-day meeting beginning February 24 will focus on priorities under global economy, international taxation, financial sector, international financial architecture, sustainable finance, infrastructure, health, and financial inclusion, the finance ministry tweeted.

Gopinath, who is an avid social media user, also shared photos with US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

Around 500 foreign delegates have gathered in Bengaluru for the first G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting. The meeting will see the participation of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors of G20 and invitee countries, and Heads of various international organisations.
