IIT-Hyderabad passout ends life by jumping from lodge in Telangana’s Sangareddy

A 22-year-old IIT-Hyderabad graduate, Megh Kapoor, was found dead after he jumped from the terrace of a lodge in Telangana’s Sangareddy district. The police are probing the reason behind him taking the extreme step.

A 22-year-old graduate ended his life on Wednesday morning by jumping from the terrace of a lodge in Telangana’s Sangareddy district. The boy was identified as Megh Kapoor, a native of Rajasthan. He had recently passed out from IIT-Hyderabad.

He was found dead at a lodge and officials suspect that he committed suicide. The police are probing as to why he resorted to the extreme step.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sangareddy, “The student completed his B-Tech from IIT and has been staying in the lodge since August by paying rent for three months. At around 4 am, he committed suicide by jumping from the terrace.”

The DSP further said, “We have taken a complaint from the lodge authority and registered a case. The reason for the suicide has not been established. We have informed his parents, and they are on their way. Once they arrive, we will open the room and then investigate.”

Further investigations are underway.

SECOND IIT-HYDERABAD STUDENT SUICIDE IN 1 WEEK

This is the second suicide by an IIT-Hyderabad student within a span of a week.

Earlier, Rahul (24) from Nandhyal town in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district was found hanging from the bed frame in his hostel room.

Rahul was an MTech second-year student studying in the Smart Mobility Department at the IIT-Hyderabad campus in Sangareddy district on Wednesday, August 31.

The Sangareddy DSP, while talking to India Today on September 7, said, “Rahul was found hanging in the hostel campus. The reason for his suicide has not yet been established as his laptop has been sent to the Forensic Scientific Laboratory and further reports are awaited.”
