Igloos made of snow have become the center of tourist attraction in Manali, Himachal. Hamta and Sethan 2 villages of Manali are being recognized as Igloo Villages. Many such igloo houses have been prepared for the tourists in both these villages.
This igloo house is made by making blocks of solid ice and erecting its walls. No chemical of any kind is used in this. In these the beds are also prepared from snow.
There is a lot of craze among tourists regarding these Igloo houses.

Tourists like these houses made of ice very much. Igloo house operators charge Rs 11,000 for their one night tariff. It includes lunch, dinner and breakfast. Apart from this, tourists living in Igloo House can also participate in skiing and winter games.
First igloo made in 2012
Tashi Dorje of Lahaul Spiti and two youths from Hamta village of Manali built their own Igloo house for the first time in the year 2012. It was from here that both got the idea of connecting it with winter tourism. After this, after about 4 years of study, both started making Igloo houses for tourists. Both of them get good income from Igloo house during winter tourism every year.
Apart from India, the concept of Igloo house is already there in Finland, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Canada. They have a big contribution in the winter tourism there. These igloo houses built in Manali on the lines of foreign countries are also running very well.
