Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he was left devastated after his time at the club came to an end after being sacked last week.

Tuchel joined the Blues in January 2021 and made an instant impact on the team as they guided them to the Champions League trophy that season.

However, the start to the new campaign hasn’t been a bright one for Chelsea and they were handed a shock 1-0 loss by Dinamo Zagreb on the opening night of this season’s Champions League.

Following the defeat, Tuchel was relieved of his duties by the Chelsea owners and was replaced by Graham Potter.

Taking to Twitter, as quoted by Reuters, the German manager said he was devastated that his time at the club had come to an end and said that he felt at home at Chelsea, both professionally and personally.

Tuchel went on to say that the pride and joy at helping the team win the Champions League and Club World Cup will stay with him forever and he was honoured to be a part of the club’s history. He concluded his statement by saying that his time at Chelsea would have a special place in his heart.

“This is one of the most difficult statements I have ever had to write, and it is one which I hoped I would not need to do for many years. I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end,” Tuchel wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

“This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally.”

“The pride and joy I felt at helping the team to win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will stay with me forever,” Tuchel said.

“I am honoured to have been a part of this club’s history and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart,” said Tuchel.
