Hungarian Grand Prix 2023 Live Streaming, Teams, Date, Schedule – All You Need To Know

What is the Hungarian Grand Prix?

The Hungarian Grand Prix is an annual affair on the F1 calendar and has been part of the FIA Formula One World Championship since 1986. Held on the Hungaroring Circuit, it was the first Formula One race behind the Iron Curtain.

The Hungaroring is sometimes compared to a karting track because it lacks straights. Teams use Monaco levels of downforce due to numerous series of bends that connect into each other and since there are few long straightaways available, a well-balanced chassis usually performs better than a powerful engine. The track is all about finding a good rhythm instead of going flat-out all the time.

Due to the narrow nature of the track, the Hungarian Grand Prix is often criticized for producing lacklustre races due to cars not being able to overtake each other. One exception to this is the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix where Valtteri Bottas, driver of Mercedes-AMG then, crashed into half the grid at the start of a wet race. In the chaos that ensued, Esteban Ocon of Alpine found himself in the lead and took his maiden F1 win.
